Uses:
* Damiana was traditionally used by the indigenous peoples of Central America as an aphrodisiac, energy tonic and to improve hormonal or sexual problems.
* More recently damiana has been used for depression and has been known to help with constipation, asthma and bronchitis.
Guidelines:
Take 3 cups damiana tea daily when needed, or use according to label instructions. Damiana is often used with other herbs for the best effects.
Interactions:
* Damiana may reduce the absorption of iron.
* Large doses may have a laxative effect.
