Special instructions:

  • Keep your thigh muscles firm throughout.
  • Gaze forward.
  • Keep your face and neck soft and relaxed.
  • Stay for 20 to 30 seconds, breathing evenly.
  • Repeat to both sides once or twice.

Easier version

If you have high blood pressure, or if stretching your arms overhead creates strain, put your hands on a chair back. Open your chest by drawing your shoulder blades forward into the back of your ribs and lifting your chest.
