Fitness buffs who skip meals

I recently started exercising at a gym after work, and it’s really curbed my appetite. Since I’m not hungry after my workout, should I skip dinner for the evening?

It’s really hard to say whether you should skip a meal without knowing what you’re eating throughout the day. But, in general, it’s not a good idea to skip meals.

Not eating regularly can leave you famished and more likely to overeat later, and it’s really hard to get important nutrients if you’re skipping meals.

Instead of skipping dinner altogether, have a lighter or smaller dinner – a salad, stir-fried veggies or even a bowl of cereal – after your workout. And to insure that you’re getting all the nutrients you need, eat a hearty breakfast and make lunch your big meal.

I also find that a light snack – a bagel, banana or yogurt – a couple hours before my evening workout helps to boost my energy for a better workout.
