Also known as Fu Shen Includes fruiting body and outer peel (fu ling pi)
Diuretic, sedative, adaptogen and a regulator of blood sugar. It clears dampness, tonifies the spleen functions. Fu Ling is calming and is used for hysteria. Considered an important tonic for women, especially if accompanied by emotional imbalances. It is used for edema, mucus, urinary imbalances, diarrhea, palpitations, vertigo, anxiety, and insomnia. Fu shen mushroom is most effective for calming the spirit. Fu Ling has also been used in hysteria and has traditionally been reported with success.
Use approximately 9-16 grams and simmer for 3 minutes. May be reused once (simmer 5 minutes).
Fu Ling (poria cocos) is best simmered for 8 to 10 minutes. Start by bringing 2 cups of water to a boil. Add two tablespoons of Fu Ling. Simmer and sweeten to taste. Fu Ling goes well with many, many herbs but especially; Schizandra, Astragalus and Eucommia. A very strong tea, simmered until very concentrated has been used in hysteria with great success.
