Ghosts, spirits, poltergeists or yang-tul

These spectral visitors have been around as long as man has recorded history. Usually they are regarded as the spirits or souls of the dead, often of people or animals who have died by violent means.

The Tibetan yogi are said to be able to produce spectral beings at will, called tulpa. Some particularly powerful yogi are able to produce tulpa that are themselves capable of producing spirits of their own, sometimes even their spirits can produce spirits.

Sometimes ghosts are invisible, and consist of a feeling, sounds, or occasional moved objects. Other times, they are ethereal, there, yet not. And other times they are so real witnesses mistake them for the real person.

The Ghosts of Flight 401

In December 1972, an Eastern Airlines TriStar jetliner, flight 401, crashed into a Florida swamp, killing one hundred and one people, including Bob Loft (the pilot) and and Don Repo (flight engineer). Later, on more than 20 occasions, crew members on other Eastern TriStars (especially those fitted with parts from 401) saw entirely lifelike apparitions of Loft and Repo. In some cases, they were identified by witnesses who knew them , and sometimes by photograph.

Resurrection Mary

People driving along Archer Ave. on Chicago’s South Side have reported giving rides to a beautiful young hitchhiker, a blonde wearing a white gown that seems to date from the 20’s or 30’s. The drivers are mostly young single males, and the girl often jumps uninvited into their cars, saying she needs a ride home. When the car comes to the Resurrection Cemetery (7200 South Archer Ave.) she gets out, sometimes opening the door, other times passing through it. Then she passes through the iron gates, and disappears into the cemetery.

She is said to be the ghost of a young Polish girl killed in a car accident, while being driven home from a dance at the O. Henry Ballroom (now called the Willowbrook Ballroom) in 1931, and buried in her party dress and dancing shoes.

One night in December 1977, a motorist noticed a young woman in a white dress standing inside the cemetery and holding the bars. Thinking she had been locked in, he called the police. But when they arrived, she was gone. However, two of the bars were bent apart, and, seemingly etched into the iron, were the marks of two small hands.

Buried at Sea

Photo of the ghostly faces in the water

In December 1924, two crewmen on the S.S. Watertown, an oil tanker, were cleaning one of the cargo tanks. They were overcome by fumes, and died. The ship was en route from the west coast to Panama when it happened, and the two men (James Courtney and Michael Meehan) were buried at sea on December 4th.

On December 5th, the faces of the two dead men were seen floating in the sea, appearing and disappearing, and keeping pace with the Watertown. During the rest of the voyage, the faces stayed, and on the next trip, five photographs were taken. The first five showed nothing unusual, but the sixth clearly showed two faces. The negative was checked for fakery by the Burns Detective Agency.

  1. Sharon Stone Survivor of flight 401

I survived flight 401 and still wake up screaming. I am currently filming Halloween 3D with Rob Zombie in California. In late 2015 I will start filming Casino II in China. Never give up! I was in a plane crash and climbed out of the wreckage alive and kept going forward.
