GINKGO, MAIDENHAIR TREE

Leaves, nuts.

Function:
Ginkgo has active constituents that have strong antioxidant effects and that lower the platelet aggregation, this has a protective effect on nerve and brain cells and the circulatory system and it also increases the flow of blood throughout the body especially to the brain and the peripheral regions.

Uses:
* Ginkgo was traditionally used for memory loss in the elderly and for respiratory tract disorders such as coughs, asthma and allergy inflammation.
* More recently ginkgo has been used for Alzheimer’s disease, asthma, atherosclerosis, depression, migraines, headaches, diabetes, tinnitis, leg cramps, intermittent claudication, cerebrovascular insufficiency (increases blood flow to the brain and peripheral regions).

Guidelines:
240 – 480 mg daily in divided doses may be of assistance. Take ginkgo for at least 2 – 8 weeks for optimal results.
