Hair loss and the pill

For the past month or so I’ve noticed my hair falling out. I was on the pill for about two years, but I discontinued taking it four months ago. Could that be causing my hair loss?

Oral contraceptives can cause hair loss in some women. However, that usually would have occurred earlier on.

At this point, I think that you should definitely be checked for hypothyroidism. Other common causes of hair loss include nutritional deficiencies, stress and toxic exposure. You should see your Ob/GYN, family doctor or dermatologist and have them run some blood tests. Take care.
