Psyllium has a laxative and soothing effect on the body.
Uses:
* Traditionally psyllium was used by the cultures in the Middle East, China and India for conditions such as constipation, diarrhea, hemorrhoids, high blood pressure, bladder disorders and skin irritations.
* More recently psyllium has also been used for psoriasis, high triglycerides, high cholesterol, atherosclerosis, irritable bowel syndrome, weight loss and as an intestinal cleaner.

Interactions:
* It is important to gradually increase your intake of fiber, giving your body time to adjust to the increase. Sudden increases in fiber can cause stomach discomfort and gas.
* Always include 8 – 10 glasses for quality water when taking psyllium.
