Q: Some days I’m just too busy to do a complete weight-lifting workout. What should I do?

A: For those days when you barely have time to go to the bathroom, a bare-bones workout will have to do! Here are the exercises you just can’t do without: one set of bench presses; one of latissimus (“lat”) pull-downs; and one of leg presses.

In three minutes (five if you take a minute between exercises), this mini-workout hits the nine major muscle groups in both your upper and lower body – a much better option than skipping a workout completely. But don’t make this shortcut a habit. Otherwise, some of your smaller muscles will get the short end of the workout.
